NEW DELHI, July 4 (ANI) — As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, a diverse group of prominent Indian leaders, business executives, athletes, artists, and public figures has joined a cinematic tribute released by the U.S. Embassy in India celebrating the enduring ties between the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
The video, shared by the U.S. Embassy, highlights America’s 250-year journey while emphasizing the longstanding partnership between India and the United States.
The embassy captioned the video: “250 years. Countless stories. One enduring spirit. Join us as celebrated voices share what American excellence means to them as the United States marks its 250th year. Their reflections highlight the ideas, achievements, and optimism that continue to shape the American story. Happy 250th Birthday, America! #Freedom250.”
The tribute opens with footage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian, France, underscoring the strong diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor describe the milestone as a testament to America’s enduring values, while Congress leader Shashi Tharoor says India and the United States are “united in the democratic spirit” through deepening people-to-people ties.
Former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi describes the United States as a “true meritocracy,” while business leader Isha Ambani highlights the country’s spirit of innovation.
The tribute also features members of the scientific community. ISRO Group Captains Prasanth B. Nair and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla credit the United States for its spirit of courage and exploration, while retired NASA astronaut Sunita Williams reflects on America’s journey from the Wright brothers’ first flight to the Moon.
Entrepreneur and podcaster Raj Shamani describes the United States as the place “where empires start in garages, and the impossible becomes the everyday.” Content creator Kamiya Jani praises American-born digital platforms such as Instagram and YouTube for connecting people around the world.
The video also showcases India’s sporting icons, including Mithali Raj, P. V. Sindhu, Vijay Amritraj, and Rahul Dravid, who reflect on how America’s culture of perseverance has inspired athletes globally.
Chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand and composer A. R. Rahman pay tribute to American figures who influenced their careers, including Michael Jordan, John McEnroe, Bob Dylan, and Chick Corea.
Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and actress Rituparna Sengupta also share their perspectives on America’s influence. Sengupta describes traveling through American cities as “walking through a scene from a masterpiece,” while Mukherjee says the country’s influence inspired him to “dream big, really big.”
