Kyiv [Ukraine], July 26 (ANI): A merchant vessel carrying four Indian nationals was struck at the Port of Odesa in Ukraine, with two Indians confirmed safe while information regarding the remaining two is awaited, the Embassy of India in Ukraine said on Sunday.
In a post on X, the Indian Embassy said search and rescue operations were underway and that it was in continuous contact with the relevant authorities.
“Embassy of India in Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation following the incident involving MV AGN Ragnar, which was struck at the Port of Odesa, on 25 July. Four Indian nationals were on board the vessel. As per the latest information, two have been confirmed safe, and information is awaited regarding the other two nationals. Search and rescue operations are underway. The Embassy is in constant touch with the concerned authorities,” the Embassy said.
The Embassy also shared emergency contact details for Indian nationals seeking assistance.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in and around the Black Sea and adjoining maritime regions due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian nationals seeking employment on commercial vessels operating in the region to carefully assess prevailing security risks before accepting such assignments.
In a detailed advisory, the MEA stated that Indian nationals working on commercial vessels in the Black Sea region should ensure that their employment terms comply with applicable international maritime standards.
The ministry also advised Indian nationals requiring consular assistance to contact the Embassy of India or Indian Consulates in the region. (ANI)
