NEW DELHI, India, June 30 (ANI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met with Secretaries to the central government at Seva Teerth, urging them to adopt a whole-of-government approach and eliminate departmental silos to improve governance and service delivery.
Highlighting the importance of integrated planning and coordination, Modi encouraged broader use of the PM GatiShakti platform as an effective tool for inter-departmental collaboration and informed decision-making.
The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP), launched on Oct. 13, 2021, aims to provide multimodal connectivity infrastructure across key economic zones. The prime minister also urged the Secretaries to focus on the measurable impact of government schemes on people’s lives.
The discussion centered on two key themes: deregulation and other reforms to improve the ease of doing business and ease of living, and promoting Aatmanirbharta, or self-reliance.
During the meeting, the Secretaries outlined major initiatives being undertaken by their respective ministries and departments in line with these priorities. They highlighted ongoing efforts to translate the prime minister’s vision into concrete outcomes while discussing sector-specific challenges and future strategies to strengthen governance and enhance public service delivery.
Earlier this month, Modi became India’s longest-serving elected prime minister.
By completing 4,399 consecutive days in office as an elected prime minister, he surpassed the previous record of 4,398 continuous days held by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who served from 1952 to 1964.
The Union Cabinet passed a resolution recognizing the milestone, describing it as a symbol of India’s democratic spirit, public trust, and the strength of citizen participation.
The resolution also noted that the milestone coincides with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government completing 12 years under Modi’s leadership. It further stated that the prime minister is approaching 25 years of continuous service as the head of government.
