WARSAW, Poland, October 21 (ANI) — Polish lawmaker Kinga Gajewska has outlined the business delegation that will accompany Prime Minister Donald Tusk on his upcoming visit to India, setting the stage for deeper economic engagement between Warsaw and New Delhi.
In a post on X, Gajewska said, “Nearly 100 Polish companies from both traditional sectors, related to agriculture and agricultural processing, as well as the most advanced sectors of the economy—IT, the space sector and, of course, the defense sector—will accompany the Prime Minister in India. Two economic forums with the Prime Minister’s participation will take place in New Delhi and Bangalore, naturally involving Polish and Indian entrepreneurs.”
Polish Prime Minister Tusk is scheduled to visit India from October 21 to October 23 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to an announcement by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday.
The visit marks Tusk’s second official trip to India as Polish prime minister, following his earlier visit in 2010.
Tusk is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with Modi on October 22. The two leaders will review the full scope of bilateral relations, which were elevated to a Strategic Partnership during Modi’s official visit to Poland in August 2024. They will also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest, the MEA said.
Tusk will be accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domanski, along with a substantial business delegation.
After completing his official engagements in New Delhi, Tusk will travel to Bengaluru, where he is expected to meet business representatives, including those from the information technology and space sectors. The India-Poland Business Forum is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on October 22 and in Bengaluru on October 23.
“The visit will provide the opportunity to further strengthen the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, defense, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people ties. It would also serve to deepen the India-EU strategic partnership,” the MEA said.
The visit follows recent ministerial engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. On September 4, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in Warsaw to review progress under the Joint Action Plan for 2024-28.
“This afternoon, met with DPM and FM Radoslaw Sikorski of Poland here in Warsaw. We reviewed the progress of our Joint Action Plan 2024-28, focusing on trade and investment, space, digital, AI, semiconductors, defense, education, shipping, mining and energy, people-to-people, culture and multilateral cooperation,” Jaishankar said in a post on X following the meeting.
“Value Poland’s support for deeper India-EU cooperation. Confident that the entry into force of the FTA will lead to even closer bilateral cooperation. Discussed the complex global challenges, including supply chain resilience and food, fuel and fertilizer security. Endless war must give way to an end of war,” he added.
During his visit to Poland, Jaishankar also met Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Warsaw to discuss the positive trajectory of the India-Poland Strategic Partnership.
“Glad to call on Polish President Karol Nawrocki. Our conversation focused on the positive trajectory of our Strategic Partnership. Exchanged views on the Ukraine conflict, Middle East/West Asia, IMEC and G20,” Jaishankar said on X. (ANI)
