India’s leading automobile manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, reported strong sales growth in October 2026, buoyed by festive-season demand, rising domestic purchases and increasing electric vehicle adoption.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited recorded its highest-ever monthly sales of 2,76,120 units in October, registering a 25 per cent year-on-year increase compared with 2,20,894 units in October 2025. The company also achieved a record in domestic sales, with 2,16,789 units sold, up 20 per cent from 1,80,675 units a year earlier.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose approximately 20.5 per cent to 2,12,384 units. Utility vehicle sales increased 26 per cent to 97,787 units, while sales of mini, compact and mid-size cars grew 18.4 per cent to 1,00,877 units. Van sales also edged up to 13,720 units.
Exports provided another major boost, climbing 59.3 per cent to 49,872 units from 31,304 units in October 2025. Sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) increased to 9,459 units.
For the April-October period of financial year 2026-27, Maruti Suzuki recorded cumulative sales of 16,55,498 units, compared with 12,99,629 units during the corresponding period last year, representing growth of approximately 27.4 per cent.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited also posted impressive October results, with total passenger vehicle sales rising 23 per cent to 75,426 units from 61,295 units in the same month last year.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales increased 21 per cent to 73,894 units, while international sales surged to 1,532 units from just 161 units a year earlier.
Electric vehicles emerged as a particularly strong growth driver for Tata Motors. EV sales jumped 75 per cent to 16,244 units in October, compared with 9,286 units in October 2025. Electric vehicles accounted for approximately 21.5 per cent of the company’s total passenger vehicle sales, up from 15.1 per cent a year earlier.
The figures include domestic and international EV sales by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
The October performance highlights the continued strength of India’s automobile market, with festive demand supporting overall sales and electric vehicles gaining a larger share of the passenger vehicle segment. While Maruti Suzuki benefited from strong domestic demand and export growth, Tata Motors recorded particularly robust momentum in its electric vehicle business.
