Beijing, China, August 24 (ANI): National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi are set to hold the 25th round of India-China border talks on Tuesday.
In a post on X, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared details of the meeting, saying Wang Yi, China’s special representative on the boundary question between China and India, will co-chair the 25th round of talks with India’s special representative and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in Beijing on Aug. 25.
Earlier Monday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said Doval had arrived in Beijing for a two-day visit at the invitation of Wang Yi.
The two leaders are scheduled to hold the 25th round of Special Representatives’ talks on the India-China boundary question on Tuesday. The ministry also said Doval will meet Chinese Vice President Han Zheng during his visit.
“NSA Doval and Foreign Minister Wang, who is China’s Special Representative, will hold the 25th round of the Special Representatives’ Talks on the India-China Boundary Question on 25 August. NSA will also call on China’s Vice President Han Zheng during his visit,” the ministry said.
The meeting comes shortly after Doval and Wang met in June in India on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisers’ meeting in New Delhi.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs described those discussions as “constructive and forward-looking,” marking another step in efforts to recalibrate relations between the two Asian powers.
In a post on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the two sides had reviewed recent developments in bilateral relations and noted progress toward gradual normalization.
“NSA underlined that stable, predictable and constructive bilateral relations contribute to building trust and better understanding between the two sides. The discussions were constructive and forward-looking,” Jaiswal said.
The latest visit comes amid an easing of tensions between New Delhi and Beijing following subsequent meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of key international summits, including the SCO Summit in Tianjin last year.
At the summit, both leaders welcomed positive momentum and steady progress in bilateral relations since their previous meeting in Kazan in October 2024.
They reaffirmed that India and China are development partners rather than rivals and that their differences should not develop into disputes.
“A stable relationship and cooperation between India and China and their 2.8 billion peoples on the basis of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity are necessary for the growth and development of the two countries, as well as for a multipolar world and a multi-polar Asia befitting the trends of the 21st century,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement following the leaders’ meeting.
