Washington D.C. (Feb 21: Vivek Ramaswamy (37), a multi-millionaire Biotech and Healthcare Entrepreneur and the author of two books: ‘Nation of victims: Identity politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence” and ‘Woke, Inc: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam’ has thrown his hat into the US Presidential race. He made the announcement today on the ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight Show’. He is the second person of Indian descent to announce his candidacy seeking the Republican nomination.
Former South Carolina Governor and US Ambassador to the United States under President Trump, Nikki Haley (51) announced her candidacy last week and were the first person of Indian descent to enter the 2024 presidential fray as a Republican Candidate.
Former president Donald J. Trump has already announced his candidacy in October 2022, and his first campaign rally was held on January 28 in Columbia, South Carolina, Nikki Haley’s home turf.
Former vice-president Mike Pence, former secretary of state Mike Pompeo, South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott, and Florida Governor Ron Desantis are few names floating around as those that might enter the fray vying for Republican Ticket. Though none of them have formally declared their candidacy, they have expressed their desire to run for the office saying they are weighing their options.
Announcing his plan publicly for the first time, Ramaswamy told Tucker Carlson why he is running. “To put America first, we need to rediscover what America is. That’s why I am running for president.” Ramaswamy is a vocal conservative and regularly appears on Fox News channel touting his anti-woke crusade, which he claims is destroying the fabric of American culture and individual freedom. “The Republican Party’s top priority should be to fill this void with an inspiring national identity that dilutes the woke agenda to irrelevance.”
Writing in the Wall Street Journal editorial he said, “To put America first, we need to discover what America is. I am launching not only a political campaign but a cultural movement to create a new American Dream – one that is not only about money but about the unapologetic pursuit of excellence.”
Releasing a video he focused intensely on the American dream and American Exceptionalism: “We are in the middle of a national identity crisis. Faith, hard work, and patriotism have disappeared, only to be replaced by new secular religions like covidisms, climatism, and gender ideology. We hunger to be part of something bigger than ourselves, yet we cannot even answer the question of what it means to be an American. Today the woke left preys on that vacuum. They tell you that your race, your gender, and your sexual orientation govern who you are, what you can achieve, and what you are allowed to think. This is psychological slavery and that has created a new culture of fear in our country that has completely replaced our culture of free speech in America. And that is why today, I am announcing my run for president of the United States. This isn’t just a political campaign, this is a cultural movement to create a new American dream for the next generation.”
Ramaswamy has a captivating message that can reverberate among conservative circles, but will that turn out support for his candidacy is yet to be seen. It will be a long hard fought journey before it can be realized.
