Madrid [Spain], April 5 (ANI) Spain reported 809 new deaths due to the coronavirus on Saturday bringing up the total to 11,744 deaths, however, Spanish authorities are viewing a silver lining here as it is the lowest increase since March 26.
Spanish Authorities said that the new deaths represent a rise of 7.3 percent, which is the lowest rise to be recorded since March 26 when the deaths first started spiking, as reported by CNN. On Thursday, Spain ‘s death toll crossed 10, 000, joining Italy as the countries to report five-digit death tolls.
As per the data of Spanish authorities, there are now 124,736 cases of COVID-19, but the number of fresh cases reported in one day has also come down. The number of reported cases in on day has risen by only 3 percent since Friday, which is a dramatic decrease from the peak of the disease in the country on March 19, when an increase of 27 percent was recorded in the number of fresh cases in one day.
The Spanish Health Ministry also reported that 34,219 people have recovered from the virus, 4,000 more than the number of people recovered on Friday, which is a 12 percent increase.
Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced Saturday the extension of the country’s lockdown until April 25 in order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. “The cabinet on Tuesday will again ask for authorisation from parliament to extend for a second time the state of alert until Saturday, April 25 at midnight,’ Sanchez said in a televised speech.
France’s COVID-19 death toll surpasses 7,500
Paris[France], Apr 5 (Sputnik/ANI): The number of coronavirus-related deaths in France ‘s hospitals and nursing homes has surpassed 7,500, the head of the national public health service Jerome Salomon said on Saturday. “Since March 1, the total number of deaths in hospitals and nursing homes is 7,560,” Salomon stated during a press briefing.
The public health official reported that 5,532 deaths were registered in French hospitals, 441 in the preceding 24 hours, and the remaining 2,028 people died while in nursing homes. Salomon also stated that there are 28,143 people currently receiving treatment in French hospitals after contracting COVID-19 , an increase of 711 compared to Friday.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since the start of the outbreak has reached 68,605, he added. A total of 15,438 people have recovered from the disease in France.

UK reports 708 COVID-19 deaths, highest in one day
London [UK ], April 5 (ANI): The death toll due to the novel coronavirus in the UK has exceeded 4, 313 with at least 708 new deaths in last 24 hours, the largest one-day rise since the start of the outbreak as confirmed by Department of Health and Social Care.
The total number of cases in the UK as on Saturday is 41, 903, a rise of 3,735 cases in the last 24 hours as well. According to, Department of Health and Social Care, a total of 4,313 people have now died in the UK . In a press briefing on Saturday, cabinet minister Michael Gove said that “a 5-year-old with underlying health conditions was among those who had died.”
Turkey reports 3,013 new COVID-19 cases, 76 deaths in 24 hours
Ankara[Turkey], April 5 (Sputnik/ANI): COVID-19 continues to spread through Turkey as a further 3,013 new cases of the disease and 76 more deaths have been reported on Saturday, the country’s Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced.
According to a graphic posted on Twitter by the health minister, the total number of cases reported in Turkey since the start of the outbreak is now 23,934. The COVID-19 death toll in the country currently stands at 501, according to Koca.
A total of 786 people in Turkey have recovered completely after contracting the disease, the minister reported. On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that entry and exit to 30 of the country’s major cities will be banned for 15 days to help curb the spread of the disease. Erdogan stated that the tougher measures were the result of people violating previous self-isolation guidelines.
Turkish health care professionals are currently planning to trial a treatment against COVID-19 that will involve blood transfusions from those who have recovered from the disease to patients still displaying symptoms, Kerem Kinik, Turkish Red Crescent Society president, said on Friday.
