New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): Presenting the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said that overall sharp rebound and recovery of the economy is reflective of India’s strong resilience. “Overall sharp rebound and recovery of the economy are reflective of India’s strong resilience,” Sitharaman said while addressing the Parliament today.
FM Sitharaman began her presentation of Budget 2022 by expressing empathy with those who were affected by the adverse health and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Finance Minister said that India’s economic growth in the current year is estimated to be 9.2 percent, the highest among all large economies. “During Amrit Kaal, our government aims to achieve the vision for India@100 set out by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day Address,” she said.
Sitharaman on Tuesday began the presentation of the Union Budget 2022-23 by expressing empathy to those who died due to COVID-19. “I want to take a moment to express my empathy for those who had to bear adverse health and economic effects of the pandemic,” the Union Minister said while presenting her fourth Budget in the Parliament.
Before the presentation, a Union Cabinet meeting was held which approved the Budget 2022-23.
Earlier today, Sitharaman met President Ram Nath Kovind ahead of the Budget presentation. She was accompanied by Ministers of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Bhagwat Karad, and other officials from the Ministry.
In an attempt to go green, the Union Budget for 2022-2023 was presented in a paperless format. Sitharaman read out the Budget at the Parliament through a tab, instead of the traditional ‘bahi khata’.
On Monday, she tabled this year’s Economic Survey, centered around the theme of “Agile approach”, which forecasted India’s economy to grow by 9.2 percent during Financial Year 2021-22 and by 8-8.5 percent in fiscal 2023 beginning 1 April.
The budget session of Parliament began on Monday with the address by President Ram Nath Kovind to both Houses in the Central Hall. The first part of the Union Budget Session of Parliament will be held from January 31 to February 11 and the second part of the Budget Session will take place from March 14 to April 8. (ANI)
Centre to roll out open platform for National Digital Health Ecosystem
An open platform for the National Digital Health Ecosystem will be rolled out, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while presenting the budget in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. It will consist of digital registries of health providers and health facilities, unique health identity, consent framework, and universal access to health facilities, she added. “An open platform for the National Digital Health Ecosystem will be rolled out. Meanwhile, the Finance Minister also said the pandemic has accentuated mental health problems of people of all ages, she stated. “To better access to quality mental health counseling and care services. A national telly mental health program will be launched which will include a network of 23 telly mental health centers of excellence with the National Institute of Mental health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) being the nodal center,” she said.

Commercial 19 kg LPG cylinder prices slashed by Rs 91.50
National Oil Marketing companies have slashed the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder cost by Rs 91.50 effective from February 1. The 19 kg commercial cylinder will cost Rs 1907 in Delhi from today, sources told ANI. It will provide some relief to restaurants, eateries, tea stalls, and others which constitute the largest user segment of the 19 kg cylinders.
Last month on January 1, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders was reduced by Rs 102.50 bringing the price of cylinders to Rs 1998.50 in Delhi. However, there are no decrease in prices of other domestic cylinders weighing 14.2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg composite or 5 kg composite cylinders and their prices remain the same. LPG Cylinder rate is revised monthly for all the states and union territories in India.
COVID-19 pandemic accentuated mental health problems; National Tele Mental Health program to be launched soon: Sitharaman
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday announced the launch of a National Tele Mental Health program, saying that the COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated mental health problems in people of all ages.
“The pandemic has accentuated mental health problems in people of all ages. To better the access to quality mental health counseling and care services, a National Tele Mental Health program will be launched,” she said while presenting the Union Budget 2022-23 in the Parliament today.
She added, “This will include a network of 23 tele mental health centers of excellence with Nimhans being the nodal center and IIIT Bangalore providing technical support.” The Union Minister said that the Budget seeks to lay the foundation to steer the economy over ‘Amrit Kaal’ of next 25 years, from India at 75 to India at 100 and continuing to build on the vision of Budget.
Centre to promote chemical-free natural farming along Ganga
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday said that the government will promote chemical-free natural farming throughout the country along the river Ganga. “Chemical-free natural farming will be promoted throughout the country with a focus on farmers’ land in 5 km wide corridors along the river Ganga, in the first stage,” she said.
