Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 12 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday announced an increase in the monthly honorarium of elected representatives of urban civic bodies by 20 per cent.
CM Yadav made the announcement while addressing a ‘Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Urban Women Public Representatives Conference and Rakshabandhan Programme’ organised at CM House in Bhopal. Women also presented him with a big rakhi to CM Yadav and also tied rakhis.
“Today, I announce a 20 per cent increase in honorarium (per month) of all the elected public representatives of civic bodies. Now, the honorarium of the Mayor of Municipal Corporation will be increased from Rs 22,000 to Rs 26,400, honorarium of the Vice-Chairman from Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,600 and honorarium of Councillor will be increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,400 from the next month,” CM Yadav said.
Similarly, in the Nagar Palika, the honorarium of the Chairman will be increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,200, the honorarium of Vice-Chairman from Rs 4,800 to Rs 5,760 and the honorarium of Councillor will be increased from Rs 3,600 to Rs 4,320, he added.
Additionally, the honorarium of Chairman of Nagar Parisad will be increased from Rs 4,800 to Rs 5,760, honorarium of Vice-Chairman from Rs 4,200 to Rs 5,040 and the Councillor’s honorarium will be increased from Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,360, the CM said.
“We are ensuring your participation in the government by providing the honorarium. Announcements are being made to empower you and to increase the importance of festivals along with all the joys in your life. Our aim is to make civic bodies financially self-reliant. For this, civic bodies will be awarded incentives for the highest increase in their income through taxes and fees in their divisions,” Yadav said.
The Chief Minister said that special provisions were being made for women in the supplementary budget for ensuring their safety and providing various facilities. (ANI)
