Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 9 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra has been arrested after 12 hours of interrogation by the Crime Branch of Uttar Pradesh police in connection with Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
As per information shared by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Monitoring Committee Chairman Upendra Agrawal, Ashish was arrested as he was not cooperating during the interrogation. “He was not cooperating during the interrogation and didn’t answer few questions. He will be produced before the court,” he stated. Ashish, who was summoned by police in connection to the probe of the violence, did not report on Friday. His father, Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra Teni had said that it was due to “health reasons.”
Addressing the media at Lucknow airport on Friday, Teni said that he had faith in the law.”We have faith in the law. My son is innocent, he got the notice on Thursday but he said that he is not feeling well,” he stated.
Earlier, Ashish’s lawyer also said that Ashish is in Lakhimpur Kheri and ensured that he would appear before the police on time. As many as eight people including four farmers died in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on October 3.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of several farmer unions, alleged that Ashish Mishra arrived with three vehicles around the time that farmers were dispersing from their protest at the helipad and mowed down farmers. However, Ashish Mishra refuted SKM’s allegations and said he was not present at the spot where the incident took place.
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday had filed an FIR for murder against Ashish Mishra. The police have arrested two accused in connection with the case. The arrested persons have been identified as Luvkush and Ashish Pandey.
Arrest of MoS Teni’s son in Lakhimpur Kheri case was made only after SC’s intervention, says BSP
New Delhi [India], October 10 (ANI): Slamming the delay in the arrest of Ashish Mishra, accused of killing farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National Spokesperson Sudhindra Bhadoria on Sunday said that the arrest in the case was only made after the intervention of the Supreme Court.
Bhadoria said that if the Bahujan Samaj Party had a government in Uttar Pradesh, there would have been no such delay and that today ‘goonda raj’ is prevailing under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Bhadoria told ANI, “I would also like to say that it was a very delayed arrest. I understand that when the Hon’ble Supreme Court intervened and took cognizance of this matter, only then the questioning and arrest were made in the matter.””In this case, if the Bahujan Samaj Party had a government in Uttar Pradesh, there would have been no such delay. In Mayawati‘s rule, no person, whether from outside or within the party, would have been spared if they violated the law,” said Bhadoria.
“I will also say that today under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party, goonda raj is prevailing and therefore the people of the state want Bahan Mayawati ji so that the rule of law and order can be maintained, ” said Bhadoria.
Speaking to ANI, Bhadoria said, “The way eight people were killed in Lakhimpur Kheri and some were injured, video clips had surfaced on social media. It was shown that Ajay Mishra Teni’s son was present in the vehicle that crushed the people.”
The BSP National Spokesperson disagreed with the view of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait who said on Saturday that killing of BJP workers in Lakhimpur was ‘reaction to action’. “I have not seen his statements, but I would definitely say that the murder of anyone is unfair and against justice and law. This way no one should be killed and retaliation is not right,” Sudhindra Bhadoria added
Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish, accused of running over farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, was arrested on Saturday after being questioned for over 12 hours in Lakhimpur Kheri.
Fair investigation in Lakhimpur Kheri violence case cannot happen till MoS Teni holds portfolio, says Bhupinder Hooda
Former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday said a fair investigation in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case cannot happen till the time the Minister of State (MoS) Ajay Mishra Teni is holding a portfolio.
Speaking to ANI Hooda said, “Fair enquiry can’t happen properly if MoS Teni is still holding the portfolio.”
The Congress leader further said that the arrest of Teni’s son, Ashish Mishra should have been made earlier, since his name was mentioned in the FIR. “Investigation should be done by a sitting judge since we have never seen someone mowing the farmers like this,” Hooda added.
Ashish Mishra was arrested yesterday night and was then produced before the Judicial Magistrate. He will remain in judicial custody till Monday, following which a local court will hear the matter on whether he should be sent to police custody or not. (ANI)
