New Delhi, Oct 20 (ANI): Amid the diplomatic tensions, Canada pulled out its 41 diplomats and their 42 dependents on Oct 19. Canada took the decision after India threatened to strip diplomatic immunities from the envoys in New Delhi. Canadian FM Melanie Joly announced and confirmed the departure of Canadian diplomats from India. India suspended visa operations to Canada and called for a reduction in Canadian diplomats in New Delhi. Melanie Joly further added that diplomats and their dependents have now left diplomatic immunities. Canada will put a pause on all in-person services in its consulates in Chandigarh, Mumbai and Bangalore. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau recently alleged India’s involvement in killing of Khalistani Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau, in Canadian Parliament, said that “agents of the Indian govt” carried out the killing of its citizen. However, New Delhi has outrightly rejected the claims and called it ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’. One month passed, Canada is yet to provide evidence to support the ‘absurd’ claim against India. Nijjar, who was a designated terrorist in India, was gunned down in a parking area in Canada’s Surrey on June 18.
