New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): Pointing out the electoral drubbings of the YSR Congress Party and the BJD, which, he said, were the B-teams of BJP, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday warned other regional parties against aligning with the BJP for they end up in the same fate.
“Over the past ten years, the BJD was the B-team of the BJP in Parliament. It supported Mr Modi on every issue. Over the past ten years, YSRCP was another B-team of the BJP, which supported Mr Modi on every issue,” Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.
“From B-teams, they have become the has-been teams. This is what happens to regional parties who place their trust in the Hum Do, who have suffered a humiliating moral and political defeat yesterday,” he added.
Both the BJD and the YSRCP suffered major setbacks in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh respectively.
The TDP, which is now part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) along with the State’s Jana Sena Party (JSP), secured 135 seats in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election. The Pawan Kalyan-led JSP handsomely chipped in by winning 21 seats, while the BJP secured victories in eight seats.
YSRCP‘s tally in the Assembly was reduced to 11 seats.
The NDA alliance bagged 21 Lok Sabha seats out of 25 in Andhra Pradesh in the latest election. YSRCP won the remaining four seats.
In a major setback, the BJD was not able to win any of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, while the BJP registered a landslide victory, winning 20 seats.
The BJP is also poised to form a government in Odisha for the first time. The party has bagged 78 seats out of 147 assembly seats in the state, while the BJD came second with winning 51 seats.
While YSRCP and BJD were not formal allies of the BJP, they supported many of the legislative agendas of the party in the parliament. (ANI)
