Exit polls predict AAP’s landslide victory in Punjab, BJP to retain power in UP
New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): Exit polls on Monday predicted a clear victory for Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and the BJP returning to power in Uttar Pradesh.
Several surveys predicted AAP, which is in power in Delhi, getting a landslide victory.
In electorally crucial Uttar Pradesh, the exit polls predicted that the BJP is poised to comfortably return to power with its allies for an unprecedented second term with most of them stating that the party’s tally would be less than that in 2017 elections when it had scored a landslide victory. The Samajwadi Party (SP), which fought the polls with RLD and some other parties, would improve its performance, the exit polls predicted.
The BJP had made the “improvement in law and order situation” under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath a major poll issue in Uttar Pradesh.
In Punjab, most exit polls predicted that the ruling Congress will finish a distant second in the state followed by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) which had allied with Bahujan Samaj Party. The BJP and its allies are not predicted to do well, according to the surveys.
If the results come as per the prediction of exit polls, it will be the first time that AAP will come to power in Punjab. AAP had declared Bhagwant Mann as its chief ministerial candidate in the state.
News24-Today’s Chanakya Exit poll predicted AAP getting 100 (plus, minus 11) seats and Congress 10 (plus, minus 7) seats in the 117-member Punjab assembly. It predicted SAD getting six (plus, minus five) seats and BJP one (plus,minus one) seat.
According to India Today-Axis My India exit poll, AAP is predicted to get 76-90 seats in Punjab, Congress 19-31, SAD and its allies 7-11 and BJP and its allies 1 to 4 seats.
The ABP News-C Voter predicted that AAP will get 51-61 seats, Congress 22-28 seats, SAD 20-26 seats and BJP 7-13 seats.
The ETG Research survey predicted AAP getting 70-75 seats, Congress 27-33 seats, SAD 7 to 13 and BJP three to seven seats.
According to Times Now-Veto exit polls, AAP is predicted to get 70 seats, Congress 22, SAD 19 and BJP five seats.
According to P MarQ survey, AAP is predicted to get 62 to 70 seats, Congress 23 to 31 , SAD 16-24 and BJP 1-3 seats.
The News-X Polstrat predicted AAP getting 56-61 seats, Congress 24-29, SAD 22-26 and BJP one to six seats.
India News-Jan ki Baat said AAP is predicted to get 60-84 seats, Congress 18-31, SAD 12-19 and BJP three to seven.
It is the first time that BJP fought over 65 seats in Punjab. It formed an alliance with the Punjab Lok Congress of Capt Amarinder Singh and SAD (Samyukt) led by SS Dhindsa.
Polling was held in Punjab on February 20 and the results will be declared on March 10.
In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly, the majority mark is 202 and the exit polls predicted BJP getting a comfortable majority with its allies.
According to the News18-P MARQ exit poll, the BJP and its allies are predicted to get 240 seats, Samajwadi Party and allies 140 seats, BSP 17 seats and Congress four seats.
According to the NewsX-Polstrat exit poll, BJP would win 211-225 seats, SP-RLD 146-160 seats, BSP 14-24 seats and Congress four to six seats.
Times Now-Veto exit poll said that the BJP is expected to get 225 seats, SP-RLD 151 seats, BSP 14 and Congress nine seats.
According to the India News-Jan Ki Baat exit poll, BJP could win 222-260 seats, SP 135-165 seats, BSP 4 to 9 seats and Congress one to three seats.
The exit polls were released after the seventh and last phase of the election in Uttar Pradesh.
The counting of votes will take place on March 10. (ANI)

In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly, the majority mark is 202 and the exit polls predicted BJP getting a comfortable majority with its allies.
According to the News18-P MARQ exit poll, the BJP and its allies are predicted to get 240 seats, Samajwadi Party and allies 140 seats, BSP 17 seats and Congress four seats.
According to the NewsX-Polstrat exit poll, BJP would win 211-225 seats, SP-RLD 146-160 seats, BSP 14-24 seats and Congress four to six seats. Times Now-Veto exit poll said that the BJP is expected to get 225 seats, SP-RLD 151 seats, BSP 14 and Congress nine seats.
According to the India News-Jan Ki Baat exit poll, BJP could win 222-260 seats, SP 135-165 seats, BSP 4 to 9 seats and Congress one to three seats. Meanwhile, Today’s Chanakya predicted 294 seats for BJP, 105 for SP-RLD and two seats for BSP. The survey said Congress is likely to open the account with one seat while others may get one.
The exit polls were released after the seventh and last phase of the election in Uttar Pradesh.

Exit polls predict BJP would be largest party in Manipur
New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): The exit polls in Manipur gave a clear edge to the ruling BJP in forming the next government with many of them predicting that it may fall short of the halfway mark.
Republic-P-MARQ survey predicted BJP and its allies getting 27-31 seats in the 60-member assembly.
It said Congress and allies would win 11-17 seats, National People’s Party alliance 6-10 seats and Naga People’s Front alliance 2-6 seats. According to India News-Jan Ki Baat’s predictions, BJP would emerge as the single-largest party falling short of the halfway mark with 23-28 seats.
Congress is predicted to win 10-14 seats, NPP 7-8 seats, NPF 5-8 seats, JDU 5-7 seats and independents 2-3 seats.
According to the ABP News-CVoter, BJP is likely to get 23-27 seats, Congress 12-16 seats, NPP 10-14 seats and NPF 3-7 seats.
India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted BJP getting 33-43 seats, Congress 4-8 seats, NPP 4-8 seats and others 6-15 seats. Manipur went to the polls on February 28 and March 5.
Exit polls predict tight race in Uttarakhand, edge to BJP
New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): The exit polls on Monday predicted a tight race in Uttarakhand with many of them giving an edge to the BJP in forming the government.
Some exit polls also predicted that Congress would finish ahead and could cross the halfway mark in the 70-member assembly.
News24 Chanakya survey predicted that the ruling BJP would win 43 seats and Congress 24 seats.
News18-P-MARQ survey predicted that the BJP would win 35 to 39 seats and Congress 28 to 34 seats. AAP could win 0 to 3 seats, the exit poll said.
India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted that the BJP would win 36-46 seats and Congress 20-30 seats. BSP, it said, could win two to four seats.
NewsX-Polstrat predicted Congress getting 33-35 seats, BJP 31-33 seats and AAP 0-3 seats.
ABP News-C Voter predicted Congress winning 32-38 seats, BJP 26-32 seats and AAP 0-2 seats.
Times Now-VETO survey predicted the BJP getting majority with 37 seats, Congress 31 seats and AAP one seat.
According to the India News-Jan Ki Baat survey, BJP would win 32-41 seats, Congress 27-35 seats, AAP 0-1 seat.
ETG-Research predicted BJP getting 37-40 seats, Congress 29-32 seats, AAP 0-1 seat.
Polling in Uttrakhand took place on February 14 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
Exit polls predict tough fight in Goa, indicate hung assembly
New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): The multi-cornered contest in Goa could lead to a hung assembly verdict, exit polls predicted on Monday with some of them putting the BJP ahead but some also stating that Congress would the single-largest party close to the half-way mark.
According to the ABP News-C Voter exit poll, the ruling BJP is likely to get 13-17 seats, Congress 12-16 seats and TMC 4-9 seats in the 40-seat Goa assembly where the majority mark is 21.
The India TV-Ground Zero Research survey predicted Congress and its allies could get 20-25 seats and the BJP 10-14 seats. The poll said that Trinamool Congress could get 3-5 seats.
Times Now-VETO exit poll predicted Congress getting 16 seats and BJP 14 seats.
NewsX-Polstrat exit poll predicted 17-19 seats for BJP and 11-13 for Congress.
India TV-CNX exit poll said BJP is likely to get 16-22 seats, Congress 11-17 seats and TMC 1-2 seats.
As per India Today- Axis My India, Congress is expected to bag 15-20 seats, BJP 14-18 seats and TMC to get 2-5 seats.
According to Zee News-DESIGNBOXED, Congress is expected to garner 14-19 seats , BJP 13-18 seats and TMC 2-5 seats.
Jan Ki Baat exit poll predicted BJP to win 13-19 seats, Congress 14-19, AAP 3-5, MGP 1-2 and others 1-3.
