Dr. Krishna Banaudha, a scientist, inventor and educator passed away on the 30th of March2020. He suffered from cancer Dr. Banaudha was trained at the Central Drug Research Institute in India on Basic research and drug development. He came to the U S in 1998 under collaborative project of US Naval Department on Wound Healing and Hypoxic injuries at Uniformed University of Health Sciences. Later he moved to Walter Reed Army Center in the Department of Neurosciences and Neurology. He became faculty in Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and became Personal Ambassador and Director of Genoma-Ayurveda of St. Laurent Institute and organizer of workshops on Science and Technology at Tirupati University. He was a member of “Network of Indian Universities on Cultural and Biological Diversity”.
Dr. Banaudha was the past president of Indian Cultural Co-ordination Committee of Washington DC. As a leader and an activist he tirelessly worked for improving the US-India relationship and strengthening the collaborative projects on Science and Technology between the two countries. In 2012 he organized an International Conference on Medicinal Plants and Herbal Products at John Hopkins University campus at Rockville, Maryland. He was a Research Professor at George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington DC
Dr. Krishna Banaudha grew up in Lucknow and completed his education there. An outstanding student, he became a researcher and professor. In 2002 he married Sita Gupta, also a scientist. Dr. Banaudha was a very friendly man and always helped others. He was involved in various community organizations and would be sorely missed. He leaves behind Sita Gupta, his wife and two sisters in India along with a host of nephews and nieces. He was 64. Because of the coronavirus his friends could not attend his funeral. Many have expressed profound grief A memorial service will be held when things are a bit normal.
