US records 53,000 new COVID-19 cases in a single-day
Washington DC [US], July 3 (ANI): The US on Thursday reported over 53,000 new cases of coronavirus, reported The Washington Post.
With 10,109 new cases, Florida on Thursday (local time) recorded its biggest single-day hike.
As per the latest update by the Johns Hopkins University, the coronavirus count in the US stands at 2,732,639. As many as 128,643 people have succumbed to the disease so far. Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbot issued a statewide order requiring the Texans to wear masks in public in any county with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases.
A total of 10,935,964 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 519,818 deaths have been reported till now, Johns Hopkins University reported. (ANI)
Number of COVID-19 cases in Brazil rises by 48,105 to over 1.49 million: Health Ministry
Brasilia [Brazil], July 3 (Sputnik/ANI): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Brazil has increased by 48,105 to 1,496,858 within the past 24 hours, the national Ministry of Health said on late Thursday.
The death toll has risen by 1,252 to 61,884 people within the same period of time.
A day earlier, Brazil reported about 46,712 new cases of the coronavirus disease and 1,038 new fatalities.bBrazil comes second on a global tally of coronavirus cases after the United States, which has recorded over 2.7 million COVID-19 patients.
Death toll from COVID-19 in Peru surpasses 10,000 people: Health Ministry
Lima [Peru], July 3 (Sputnik/ANI): The number of people, who have died of the coronavirus in Peru, has exceeded 10,000, the national Ministry of Health said on late Thursday (local time). “We regret to say that COVID-19 has resulted in the death of 10,045 people throughout the country. At the moment, we are sharing the pain of their families,” the ministry said.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Peru has reached 292,004, with 182,097 people having recovered from the disease. More than 1.7 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Peru since the start of the outbreak.
The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11. To date, more than 10.9 million people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 519,000 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University. (Sputnik/ANI)
India sees highest single-day spike of 20,903 COVID-19 cases, tally reaches 6,25,544
New Delhi [India], July 3 (ANI): India reported the highest ever single-day spike of 20,903 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours on Friday, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With these new cases, India‘s coronavirus tally has risen to 6,25,544 cases of which 2,27,439 patients are active cases while 3,79,892 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated.
379 more deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths due to the infection to 18,213.
As per the Health Ministry, Maharashtra — the worst-affected state from the virus — has a total of 1,86,626 cases including 8,178 fatalities while Tamil Nadu has 98,392 coronavirus cases in the state inclusive of 1,321 fatalities.
Delhi has reported 92,175 cases so far inclusive of 2,864 patients succumbing to the virus. The Indian Council of Medical Research on Friday said that the total number of samples tested till July 2 is 92,97,749 of which 2,41,576 samples were tested on Thursday. (ANI)
