Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 14 (ANI): Actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra residence by hanging himself in Mumbai on Sunday, the police said.
“Actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his Bandra residence by hanging himself in Mumbai on Sunday,” Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Manoj Sharma confirmed.
However, no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput’s residence, as per the police. Further investigation is underway.
Several Bollywood celebrities expressed their shock and grief over Rajput’s demise.
“Shocked beyond words !!!! #SushantSinghRajput no more …. deeply saddened!!,” actor Riteish Deshmukh‘s tweet read.
Originally from Bihar, Rajput started off his career with television and gained popularity with Ekta Kapoor’s TV serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’, while acting alongside actor Ankita Lokhande.
He made his debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kai Po Che’, and went on to act in several blockbuster hits such as ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, ‘PK’ and ‘Kedarnath’.
Rajput was last seen in ‘Chhichhore’ alongside Shraddha Kapoor. (ANI)
The post mortem of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been conducted at Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital and further details of the autopsy report are awaited, as per a recent update.

Actor Akshay Kumar has expressed grief over the demise of the versatile actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide on Sunday. He was 34.
The ‘Kesari’ actor took to Twitter and expressed how much the news has left him “shocked and speechless.”
“I remember watching Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family,” he added.
Several political leaders took to social media to express shock and grief after the news of actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death on Sunday.
Political leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani, who herself entered into politics from the entertainment industry, among others took to Twitter to share their disbelief at the death of the young and brilliant actor.
“I have no words, no understanding of why you left the way you did. From a bright young kid who came to Balaji to a star who made the nation swoon.. you had come a long way and had many more miles to go. You will be missed Sushant Singh Rajput gone too soon,” Irani’s tweet read.
Rajnath Singh also expressed shock and said that it was a big loss for the film fraternity.
“The news of death of young Hindi films actor Sushant Singh Rajput has left me stunned. People were fan of his acting capability, talent and skill. His passing away like this is painful, and it is a big loss to the film industry. May God give his family and fans the strength to bear this pain,” Singh’s tweet read.
Meanwhile, the Law Minister stated that he shared the same hometown as the actor and also remembered meeting him in person at an event held last year.
“Shocked to learn that super talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput is no more. He was from my city Patna. Remember meeting him in Rashtrapati Bhawan during oath taking ceremony last year. He had told me that his family lived in Rajiv Nagar, Patna. He had miles to go. He left too soon,” Prasad said through a tweet.
Former I&B minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “Shocked to hear of Sushant Singh Rajput so much life in him, wonderful person to interact with, a dedication that was exemplary, should not have gone like this. May god give strength to his family. Om Shanti”.

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma on Sunday termed actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s untimely death as ‘really disturbing and distressing’.
Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself at his Bandra residence on Sunday, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Sharma confirmed. However, no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput’s residence and further investigation is underway, said police.
“This is distressing, can’t come to terms that this has happened. Really disturbing. Brilliant actor RIP in brother,” Sharma tweeted.
Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri also expressed shock over Rajput’s passing away as he wrote: “I am shocked at the tragic passing away of Sushant Singh Rajput. A life brimming with promise and possibilities ended abruptly. My condolences to his family and fans.”
Conveying condolences to Rajput’s family, former cricketer VVS Laxman said reaching out to those struggling with mental health problems is very important.
“Mental health is a very serious issue and needs more attention than it gets. Being sensitive, compassionate, gentle and consistently reaching out to those struggling is very important. My heartfelt condolences to Sushant Singh Rajput‘s family,” Laxman wrote.
Indian table tennis player Manika Batra also extended heartfelt condolences to the late actor’s family as she wrote: “Saddened to learn about the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. My heartfelt condolences to his family. RIP Sushant Singh Rajput.”

Many dubbed the late actor as a “wonderful human” to a “great actor with beautiful soul” to a guy with a “contagious smile” to “the perfectionist.”

Taking cues from her own experience, actor Deepika Padukone on Sunday reiterated the need to talk, communicate and reach out to those who may be depressed or battling from mental illnesses.
The post comes within hours of the sudden demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Bandra residence in Mumbai.
Deepika shared a written statement on Twitter, which read: “As a person who has had a lived experience with mental illness, I cannot stress enough about the importance of reaching out.”
She urged her legion of followers to “talk, communicate, express and seek help” during such an hour of need.
The ‘Padmaavat’ actor wrapped up the post by assuring nobody is alone in this battle, and there is always a “hope.”
“Remember, you are not alone. We are in this together. And most importantly there is hope,” the statement read.
The 34-year-old actor has always been on the frontline when it comes to spreading awareness about the importance of mental health.
Padukone started voicing her opinion on the importance of mental health through her foundation ‘The Live Love Laugh Foundation’ (TLLLF) in June 2015. Through the platform, the actor keeps launching nationwide awareness as well as destigmatisation campaigns.

South Indian celebrities mourn Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise
Several South Indian celebrities, including Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ram Charan expressed shock and grief over the passing away of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Sunday.
The actor allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Bandra residence in Mumbai, the police said.
Veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal took to Twitter to share a lovely picture of Sushant and wrote: “May you rest in peace.”
The ‘Aiyya’ actor, Prithviraj Sukumaran too shared a monochrome picture of the late star on Twitter and wrote: “Rest in peace Sushant.”
Telugu actor Ram Charan termed his demise as “shock”.
“Shocked to hear that Sushanth Singh Rajput is no more. An incredible talent who was destined to scale many heights is gone too soon. Rest in peace. My prayers and strength to his family,” the ‘Magadheera’ actor tweeted.
Actor Dulquer Salman said that he is “absolutely heartbroken by this news.”
“Not someone I met or knew personally but this really hits you in the gut. So talented and so young. RIP #SushantSinghRajput,” ‘The Zoya Factor’ actor added.
‘Premam’ actor Nivin Pauly, likewise, explained how distressful it was to hear the news of the young actor’s sudden death.
