Gurugram (Haryana) [India], February 11 (ANI): Out of the three people, who were trapped after a portion of the roof of an apartment in Gurugram‘s Sector 109 collapsed, one woman has died, informed Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram. Speaking to media persons, he said that of the remaining two people, who are trapped, one has not been spotted yet and another will be recused shortly. “Total three trapped of which one woman from 1st floor dead. We’ve recovered her body. Of the remaining two- woman on the second floor is still not spotted. The man on the same floor is half trapped. He’s conscious, we will rescue him in half an hour,” Yadav told media persons.
Prima facie, the Deputy Commissioner said, the construction work on the sixth floor could have led to the incident. “No one else feared trapped, only these three. Prima facie construction work on the sixth floor could have led to the collapse of only dining areas (in flats) from 6-1 floors. Other rooms intact from 6-1 floor. The inquiry will be ordered tomorrow. Action will be taken in case of lapses,” he said.
A portion of the roof of the sixth floor of D tower of Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Gurugram‘s Sector 109 collapsed on Thursday. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are present on the spot and rescue operations are underway.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that he is personally monitoring the situation. “Administrative officials, along with SDRF and NDRF teams are busy in the rescue & relief work after the unfortunate collapse of the apartment roof at the Paradiso Housing Complex in Gurugram. I am personally monitoring the situation and I pray for everyone’s safety,” said Khattar in a tweet.
According to Kaushal Kumar, a resident in the building, the incident took place around 6 pm in the D Tower of the apartment and six floors of the building had collapsed. “The drawing room area from the sixth to the first floor collapsed. Some area is still gradually falling off,” he said.
Further, he informed that four families lived in the tower, and only two of the six flats were vacant. (ANI)
Gurugram roof collapse: Police register case against builder, investigation underway
Gurugram (Haryana) [India], February 11 (ANI): Gurugram Police on Friday registered a case of negligence against the builder of Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Gurugram’s Sector 109, where a portion of the roof of an apartment collapsed on Thursday evening. A case has been registered against builder Ashok Solaman and others under Sections 304a and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was filed by the husband of one of the deceased, identified as Ekta Bhardwaj (31), who was staying on the second floor of Tower D.
In the FIR, the deceased’s husband said the incident allegedly occurred due to negligent and sub-standard construction work done by the Chintels group and the contractor of construction. “On Thursday evening, I received a call from my son informing me that the ceiling of some floors of the tower had collapsed, and, in the incident, my wife suffered injuries and passed away around 7 pm. I came home from office and saw the ceiling of the 6th and 7th floors had collapsed. Rescue and police teams were working on the spot and after removal of debris, my wife’s body was recovered and taken to the hospital,” said Rajesh Bhardwaj.
“There could be more fatalities and injuries to other flat residents of D-tower,” he said, adding that necessary legal action should be taken against the accused. So far, two people have died and several people are feared to be trapped. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are carrying out the rescue operations on the spot.

Action will be taken againt builder in Gurugram apartment’s roof collapse case, says local MLA
Gurugram (Haryana) [India], February 11 (ANI): Local MLA Rakesh Daultabad on Friday said strict action will be taken against the builder over construction material quality in the Gurugram apartment’s roof collapse case.
Speaking to ANI, Daultabad, who represents the Badshahpur Assembly seat, which covers substantial parts of Gurugram, said action will be taken against the builder over the construction material quality, while a thorough probe will be conducted to find the reasons for the incident. “We are focussing on rescue completion to save lives right now. I met the person who is partially trapped. He is fine. Two persons are currently trapped in the debris,” he said.
