New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): Amid the unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases in India, COVID-19 assistance, in form of oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and other medical aid continued to come from countries around the world at the beginning of May, as the infections in the country reached the grim mark of 20 million cases on Tuesday.
A total of seven ISO tankers with 20 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) each arrived from United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Mundra Port in Gujarat today to help augment India‘s oxygen availability in the fight against the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
The fifth in a series of consignments carrying 545 oxygen concentrators also arrived from the United States on Tuesday.
A shipment of 282 oxygen cylinders, 60 oxygen concentrators, ventilators and other medical supplies from Kuwaiti reached India on Tuesday to help the country fight the second wave of coronavirus.
The first batch of 900 oxygen cylinders offered by the British Oxygen Company was airlifted by Indian Air Force (IAF) to India on Monday. The British Oxygen Company has offered 5000 oxygen cylinders to India to help the country in its fight against rapidly spreading second wave of COVID-19.
Prior to this, the UK on Sunday announced that it will be sending additional 1,000 ventilators from the UK’s surplus supply to Indian hospitals as part of its commitment to support India‘s fight against the second wave of coronavirus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that India‘s fight against increasing coronavirus cases will be reinforced by the new UK government support announcement of additional ventilators in addition to 200 ventilators, 495 oxygen concentrators and three oxygen generation units the UK sent to India last week.
Taiwan sent 150 oxygen concentrators, 500 oxygen cylinders, and 8,44,800 N-95 masks on Sunday. Meanwhile, Germany sent 120 ventilators.
Last week, UAE had sent 17,07,600 masks, 35,400 coverall, 75,200 gowns, 72,000 goggles and rapid detection test 7,14,301. Russia gave 150 bedside monitors, 20 oxygen concentrators, and 200,000 packets of Favipiravir. (ANI)
Israel sending life-saving equipment to India to fight COVID-19: Foreign Minister Ashkenazi
Tel Aviv [Israel], May 4 (ANI): Israel will send life-saving equipment to India, including individual oxygen generators to help the country address the difficult situation with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“India is one of Israel‘s closest and most important friends. We stand with India, particularly during these difficult times India is experiencing, and are sending life-saving equipment to our Indian brothers and sisters,” said Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry in a press release said that hundreds of oxygen generators, respirators, and medical equipment for India – medical assistance to India following the country’s coronavirus crisis.
Starting tomorrow, Israel will send a comprehensive delivery of medical equipment as aid to India, who is currently facing a severe coronavirus crisis.
“The delivery of the assistance, which will be transferred to India by air through a series of flights throughout the week, is the result of the Foreign Ministry’s work in cooperation with the National Security Council, Health Ministry, Finance Ministry, and Control Center, together with full coordination with the Indian government through Israel‘s embassy in New Delhi and the Indian embassy in Israel,” the release said.
The assistance package will include thousands of group and individual oxygen generators – which are needed immediately in the Indian health system – respirators, medications, and additional medical equipment.
India reported 3,57,229 new COVID-19 cases, 3,20,289 discharges, and 3,449 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry’s data on Tuesday. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2,02,82,833. (ANI)
Seven tankers with 20 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen each arrive in India from UAE
New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): A total of seven ISO tankers with 20 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) each arrived from United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Mundra Port in Gujarat on Tuesday, to help augment India‘s oxygen availability in the fight against the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
“Further consolidating our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 7 ISO tankers with 20 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) each arrive at Mundra Port (India). First such shipment of LMO to India,” Arindam Bagchi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a tweet.
India deeply values the support from UAE, and COVID-19 assistance from UAE will help augment oxygen availability, the MEA spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, a ship departed from Kuwait’s Al-Shuaiba Port for India carrying 3 tanks, each with a capacity of 25 metric tons.
“Today, a ship departs from Al-Shuaiba Port for India carrying 3 tanks, each with a capacity of 25 metric tons, with a total of 75 metric tons and 1000 gas cylinders with a capacity of 40 liters and other relief material,” said Kuwait’s Ambassador to India.

COVID-19: Fifth consignment carrying 545 oxygen concentrators arrives from US
New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): The fifth in a series of consignments carrying 545 oxygen concentrators arrived from the United States on Tuesday, as part of COVID-19 assistance.
“5th in a series of consignments carrying medical equipment arrives from the US. This one carrying 545 oxygen concentrators. Appreciate the support from the US,” Arindam Bagchi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a tweet.
The United States Department of Defense has said that the final two flights of COVID-19 aid slated for India have been delayed and will reach at least until Wednesday. US Transportation Command on Monday said that the delay is due to maintenance issues.
This comes as India registered a slight dip in COVID-19 cases as it registered 3,68,147 new coronavirus infections and 3,417 related deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the union health ministry on Monday morning.
On Sunday, a flight from America carrying 1.25 lakh vials of an anti-viral drug Remdesivir landed in India. On Saturday night, a flight from the US, carrying 1,000 oxygen cylinders, regulators and other medical equipment landed in India.
Last week, the US deployed its first two planes carrying the initial emergency relief supplies including oxygen cylinders, regulators, and pulse oximeters generously donated by California, rapid diagnostic tests and N95 masks.
Moreover, the White House had also announced that the US will be delivering medical supplies worth more than USD 100 million in the coming days to India to provide urgent relief as the country battles a new wave of COVID-19 cases. (ANI)
