Tehran, Iran, November 7 (ANI): The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force marked its commemorative week with statements highlighting domestic technological achievements, regional defense capabilities and military self-reliance during a press briefing at the Sarcheshmeh Cultural Complex in Tehran on Saturday, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.
IRGC spokesman Brig. Gen. Hossein Mohebbi opened the briefing by paying tribute to historical figures and military personnel killed in previous regional conflicts.
“Aerospace Week serves as a valuable opportunity to honor martyrs of the Aerospace Force, its veterans, commanders and their esteemed families, as well as to highlight the salient achievements and performance of the IRGC Aerospace Force,” he said.
Addressing journalists, Mohebbi said Iran had constructed extensive underground missile facilities by leveraging domestic technological capabilities and geographical advantages.
One of the major developments following recent military engagements, according to Mehr News Agency, has been the rapid expansion of the country’s air defense network.
Mohebbi claimed that Iranian air defense units had intercepted and shot down 260 hostile aircraft during hostilities initiated by the United States against Iran.
“By establishing flexible production capabilities and continuing to manufacture missiles and drones under enemy bombardment, we managed to move production facilities from above ground to underground,” he said.
He added that specialized equipment would be displayed during IRGC Aerospace Week, allowing the public to examine it firsthand.
The official also claimed that Iranian authorities had recovered seven intact reconnaissance drones over the previous two weeks.
“Over the past week or two, we have brought down seven MQM-170 reconnaissance drones intact. This is nothing but a demonstration of our technological superiority over the enemy,” Mohebbi said.
“If another war breaks out, the IRGC Aerospace Force’s new capabilities will be on display, and our enemies will be astonished by its strength and power,” he added.
Detailing the organization’s progress, Mohebbi outlined three key pillars of development, beginning with the cultivation of domestic scientific expertise in the aerospace sector.
“The first strategic achievement of the IRGC Aerospace Force is the generation of indigenous knowledge and the localization of global knowledge within the aerospace industry,” he said.
Mohebbi added that this development had driven significant changes in Iran’s defense and military production industries, transforming the country from an importer of military equipment into an exporter of aerospace products.
The second milestone involved translating industrial capabilities into locally manufactured products. He said Iran’s current production meets domestic requirements while also supplying international markets with systems such as the Arman missile, the 358 drone and the Khordad-3 air defense system.
“Today, in addition to meeting domestic needs, we have become an exporter of defense equipment and products — a significant achievement for the country,” he said.
The third pillar, according to Mohebbi, is complete self-sufficiency and independence from foreign suppliers.
The Mehr News Agency report highlighted the emphasis on domestic manufacturing, with military equipment and associated components produced using Iranian expertise rather than relying on external procurement.
“Today, the Aerospace Force’s weaponry is produced based on indigenous knowledge and expertise; we do not rely on foreign nations to supply the arms, equipment and components we require,” Mohebbi said. (ANI)
