WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2026 (ANI): President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing the US federal government to replace the terms “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” with “Super Intelligence” and “SI” across executive branch operations, as his administration moves to establish a new framework for advanced computing and AI-powered government services.
The order, titled “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence,” directs federal departments and agencies, to the maximum extent permitted by law, to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports and policy documents.
The directive does not retroactively change previously issued regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants or historical records. It also temporarily applies the existing federal statutory definition of artificial intelligence to “Super Intelligence” while calling for a new federal definition.
Under the order, the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology has 60 days to submit proposed legislative language to Congress establishing a federal definition of “Super Intelligence” and recommending corresponding changes to existing laws.
Trump announced the terminology change during a high-level White House luncheon with leading technology executives, including SpaceX and Tesla chief Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
“We’re going to be signing a document today at 5 o’clock renaming Artificial Intelligence because it’s not artificial. We all agree on that. We’re going to be renaming it Super Intelligence — officially renaming it,” Trump said.
Describing the technology’s potential, Trump said, “It is the biggest thing there is — maybe the biggest thing there’s ever been. It’s much bigger than the Internet.”
The White House order argues that today’s frontier systems have capabilities extending beyond the original concept of artificial intelligence, saying they increasingly amplify human ingenuity and enable new forms of creativity across fields including science and medicine.
Tech leaders discuss safety and national security
The White House meeting also focused on the development and governance of advanced AI systems. Technology executives and administration officials discussed an accord aimed at encouraging companies to develop and deploy the technology with safety measures and greater public accountability.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the initiative was intended to give Americans and customers confidence that the technology would operate as intended.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stressed the importance of cooperation among technology companies and the government, saying that the industry must work together to advance the technology safely.
National security was another major focus. Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton said that maintaining American leadership in advanced AI was a central national-security issue.
Trump also said technology companies developing large data centers should work with local communities and contribute to areas hosting the infrastructure, including through support for schools and teachers.
Trump launches America.gov
Alongside the Super Intelligence initiative, Trump unveiled America.gov, a new federal government portal designed to provide Americans with a single digital entry point to government information and services.
At the launch, Trump described the platform as “one of the most revolutionary product launches of all time” and said it would make government services easier for citizens to access.
“With America.gov, the entire US government will fit in the palm of your hand,” Trump said.
The platform is designed to allow users to seek government information in plain language rather than navigating thousands of separate agency websites and forms. According to the administration, additional services—including passport renewals and Medicare enrollment—are expected to be added in the coming months.
An accompanying executive order directs federal agencies with public-facing services serving more than 100,000 users annually to integrate covered services into America.gov, while excluding certain national-security-sensitive services and IRS tax filing.
The White House has said the initiative is intended to reduce the burden of federal paperwork and make government services faster and easier to navigate.
Together, the two initiatives represent a broader administration effort to incorporate advanced computing into federal operations while establishing “Super Intelligence” as the preferred terminology for the technology within the executive branch. (ANI)
