NEW DELHI, Aug. 3 (ANI): Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday criticized the BJP-led central government over the NEET paper leak issue, saying the controversy has deprived young people of their present while delayed recruitment processes have jeopardized their future.
Gandhi accused the government of offering “excuses” instead of accepting responsibility.
“‘If (young people) don’t get a job, the throne will shake.’ After Kota, after Dehradun, now ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ is reaching Prayagraj. This is the city where millions of young people have been preparing for years — filling out forms, paying fees and waiting endlessly. The paper leak has taken away their present,” he said.
“Stalled recruitments have taken away their future. And just a few days ago, in Delhi, these very students were beaten with batons and pellet guns simply because they spoke up for their rights. We will keep raising their voice and will ensure they get justice. No more excuses — take responsibility, or vacate the chair. Aug. 8 — see you in Prayagraj,” he added.
The opposition has continued to criticize the government over police action against demonstrators during the “Sansad Chalo” march in New Delhi on July 20.
Gandhi had earlier said the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, introduced by the government, was “not even a Band-Aid when we needed surgery.”
The bill has since been passed by Parliament. (ANI)
