Washington, DC [US], July 20 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Monday congratulated Vice President JD Vance and his family on the birth of their fourth child, calling the newborn “a perfect baby boy.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family.”
Vice President Vance and his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday. The vice president announced the birth in a post on X.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” Vance wrote.
He also thanked the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their care.
The couple, who have been married since 2014, also have two sons, Ewan, 9, and Vivek, 6, and a daughter, Mirabel, 4.
According to CBS News, this is the first time in modern history that the nation’s second family has welcomed a child while in office.
The report noted that the last known instance occurred about 156 years ago, when Vice President Schuyler Colfax Jr., who served under President Ulysses S. Grant, and his wife, Ellen, welcomed their son, Schuyler Colfax III, in 1870.
Meanwhile, CNN, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that the Vance family plans to spend more time in rural northern Virginia, leasing part of a multimillion-dollar property in the affluent community of Middleburg.
According to the report, the move is intended to provide the second lady and the couple’s children with a greater sense of normalcy. The vice president is expected to stay at the property periodically while maintaining the family’s official residence at the Naval Observatory. (ANI)
