Manama, Bahrain, July 7 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister, Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, on Tuesday and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Sharing details in a post on X, Jaishankar said the leaders also exchanged views on the regional situation.
“A pleasure to meet Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain H.E. Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa this morning. Discussed taking forward our bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Also exchanged views on the regional situation.”
Earlier, Jaishankar met Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, on Monday and held discussions on expanding the relationship between the two nations.
In a post on X, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s efforts to ensure the well-being of the Indian community and said, “Discussed deepening our bilateral cooperation. Exchanged views on ongoing developments in the region.”
On Sunday, Jaishankar met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in Doha as part of his multi-nation tour. The two sides explored new opportunities to deepen their strategic partnership.
In a post on X, Jaishankar described the meeting as “a pleasure” and thanked the Qatari leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community in the Gulf nation.
He said the discussions covered a broad range of areas of bilateral cooperation, including energy, trade, investment, connectivity, security, and people-to-people ties.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar is on a multi-nation visit to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United States, and Belgium, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.
According to the MEA, Jaishankar is visiting Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman from July 5-10. During the tour, he will meet with his counterparts and senior leaders of the four countries.
The ministry said the visit is aimed at strengthening India’s bilateral relations with the four Gulf nations while providing an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.
During the U.S. leg of the trip, Jaishankar will visit New York on July 13 to launch India’s official campaign for a non-permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council for the 2028-29 term. He will then travel to Brussels on July 14-15 to attend the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting and hold talks with European Union and Belgian counterparts. (ANI)
