TOKYO, July 1 (ANI) — Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi departed Tokyo on Wednesday for a three-day official visit to India, where she will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit in New Delhi.
The Embassy of India in Tokyo said preparations have been completed in the Indian capital to welcome the Japanese delegation.
In a post on X, the embassy said, “Prime Minister Takaichi is departing for New Delhi. In India, she will attend the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit Meeting. We wish for a safe journey to India for all members of the delegation. Preparations are in place in New Delhi to welcome everyone. We eagerly await your arrival.”
Takaichi is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for her first official visit to India since assuming office.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Japanese prime minister will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit during her visit.
The trip is expected to strengthen investment and innovation partnerships, deepen economic cooperation, and advance efforts to build resilient supply chains in key sectors, including semiconductors and critical minerals.
Diplomatic sources said discussions will also focus on enhancing maritime security, expanding defense technology cooperation, and developing an industrial value chain connecting the Bay of Bengal with India’s Northeast region.
The summit will provide both countries with an opportunity to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Tokyo in August 2025 for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit and reflects the shared commitment of both nations to further strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
