Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 13 (ANI): As parts of Himachal Pradesh continue to receive heavy rainfall triggering devastating flash floods, at least two people have died, 10 are missing and 20 are stranded in different locations in Kangra district.
As per the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the Revenue Department, over 100 people, including 80 students and a few families, have been rescued from the popular Triund trekking route. Four have also been rescued from flood-hit Boh village.
The SDMC further reported that about 11 houses and several vehicles have been damaged. Electricity supply has been hampered at various locations and nearly 60 roads have been closed in different parts.
A yellow alert had been issued in Kullu on Monday, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prakash Singh informed, adding that at least 25 roads had been shut in the district and eight transformers were down hampering the electricity supply.
Several vehicles were stranded on both sides of NH3 in Lahaul Spiti due to a flash flood in a nalla following heavy rainfall. The district Police, BRO and local administration teams undertook restoration work to clear the route.

As flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains swept away buildings and cars at tourist spots in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur had appealed to tourists to avoid visiting high-risk areas following the flash flood in Dharamshala on Monday.
Teams from the National Disaster Relief Force have been sent to the state for relief work. The Ministry of Home Affairs assured all help from the Centre and is continuously monitoring the situation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concerns over heavy rains in the state and said the Centre is closely monitoring the situation and all possible support is being extended to the state government.
“The situation in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains is being closely monitored. Authorities are working with the State Government. All possible support is being extended. I pray for the safety of those in affected areas,” Prime Minister Modi said. (ANI)
Rescue operations underway in Himachal’s Kangra after landslides, floods
Rescue operations are still underway in Boh valley in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh after massive landslides and floods hit the state on Monday.
Authorities along with locals were seen clearing the roads and helping in rescue and relief operations at the valley. As per a local police official, five people have been rescued since today morning and operations are underway.
Yesterday, two persons went reportedly missing in Kangra district after incessant rains caused flash floods in Dharamshala, informed Nipun Jindal, Deputy Commissioner of Kangra district.
“We can’t say it is a cloudburst in Dharamshala but initially it is a flash flood case due to heavy rain,” he told ANI.
Due to heavy rains, the water level in Manjhi River drastically rose damaging several shops and houses in the Chetru village of Dharamshala.
Sandeep Kumar, Vice president Gram panchayat Bagali in Kangra district told ANI on Monday that there were at least 10 shops in the area which received severe damage. “There were about 4-5 houses also, which completely drowned. The ones that are left might also go down with the river,” he had added.
Also, Uttarkashi-Gangotri Highway near Dabrani village in Uttarakhand was closed.
According to the district administration officials, the border road organization (BRO) was seen being opening the highway. (ANI)
Home Ministry monitors natural calamity caused by heavy rains in Himachal, assures all possible help to state govt

New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): As incessant rainfall in several parts of Himachal Pradesh has triggered a flash flood in Dharamshala‘s Bhagsu Nag area and crippled normal life, the Home Ministry is continuously monitoring the situation and assured all possible help to the state government.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “I have spoken to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur regarding the natural calamity caused by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. NDRF teams are reaching there soon for relief work. The Ministry of Home Affairs is continuously monitoring the situation. Himachal will be given all possible help from the Centre.”
Sources told ANI that the MHA control room is in active and contact with the state administration. “National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are about to reach the spot and more NDRF teams will be sent there as per requirement,” sources said.
Director General (DG) NDRF SN Pradhan said, “Two NDRF teams will reach Bhagsu Nag shortly, and 5 other teams of NDRF are on standby. We will send more teams of NDRF as per the demand of the local administration.”
